Police-Civil Society Organization dialogues
Police-CSO dialogues are aimed at engaging the police on critical issues as and when they unfold to ensure continued and constructive engagement. The Police –CSOs continuous dialogue is crucial for sustainability and coherent partnership. Five regional dialogues covering Northern, Central, Eastern, Western and the greater Northern will thus be held. These dialogues have proved invaluable for not only have they enhanced police cooperation with the civil society, but also have been platforms of sharing various initiatives and implementation strategies for the project especially in regard to region-specific challenges.
The dialogues have been platforms of various civil society related complaints brought on behalf of the public have been often discussed and concluded mutually using this platform. Equipped with information from the communities, the civil societies have utilized the dialogues to inform the police of the community aspirations they demand of the police. This in turn has informed police intervention strategies in particular areas. Such dialogues are necessary and need to be strengthened the more. These dialogues shall be attended by the member organizations of HURINET-U, member organizations of the Police Coalition Project, the media fraternity and the local community representatives-such as elders in clan based communities.
