'Ugandans are Watching With Keen Interest Police Conduct''

The quest for a democratic Uganda Police Force

The increased monitoring of police compliance to legal obligations, human rights and police professional standards is intended to enhance accountability and as a result of this, is a newsletter called "The Police Watch Magazine"

Nationwide Police Station Visits for the Public

This initiative is intended to contribute to the gradual opening up of the formally ‘closed’ institution of the police that has been for so long alien to the civilian population that it is supposed to serve and work with.  The police station visits or open days are expected to allow CSOs and interested members of the public visit police and be sensitized about its working methodologies as well as providing a forum for dialogue.

The visits also seek to create transparency, dialogue, and respect between police and civilians, thereby encouraging the accountability of police to the citizens they serve in all parts of the country.  Furthermore participation helps the police strengthen their public acceptance, the support and trust for their communities. The visitors shall involve the general public, the CSOs fraternity including churches, professional bodies among others. Between 5 -10 people shall be mobilized to visit a particular police station in a particular region.
